About the Habitat for Humanity PEI ReStore

The ReStore is a home décor, building supply and home renovation store that accepts and resells new and gently-used items. Proceeds from the ReStore fund Habitat for Humanity PEI, which constructs Habitat homes for hard-working low-income families in the province. Supporting the ReStore helps deserving Island families achieve the dream of home ownership. Habitat PEI’s ReStore boasts over 5,000 sq. ft. of selling space, two trucks, a large receiving area, a dedicated group of staff and volunteers, and is the 8th busiest ReStore in Canada on per square foot basis.



This junior level position will be responsible for carrying out the day-to-day procurement and marketing duties of the Habitat PEI ReStore. The coordinator will also be responsible for administrative duties to ensure smooth operations of the store. This position will be a lead contact in soliciting donations of inventory, getting the Habitat PEI ReStore message into the community, and will be a key member of the team in helping Habitat PEI’s ReStore reach a new level of success.


Duties and Responsibilities

Admin Duties

  • Respond to inquiries made via phone, email, or social media.

  • Managing all Habitat PEI ReStore social media accounts.

  • Review images of prospective donor items and decide on potential for resale.

  • Handle inquiries regarding scheduling changes, updating our drivers on schedule re: pickup status, changes or cancellations.

  • Data entry in Habitat PEI’s CRM system (Salesforce).


Procurement Duties

  • Identify, solicit, and cultivate in-kind donations (“inventory”) for the Habitat for Humanity PEI ReStore.

  • Maintain active relationships with donors and potential donors while coordinating efforts with Director of Resource Development to ensure overlap is minimized.

  • Works with ReStore Manager to coordinate donations within existing pick-up and drop-off structures for the store across PEI.

  • Evaluates and reports on progress, costs, and outcome per identified goals, including developing a monthly, user-friendly tracking system to identify and report ReStore value of received donations for the ReStore Manager and CEO.


Marketing Duties

  • In collaboration with the ReStore Manager, Director of Resource Development, and CEO, contribute towards the overall Habitat PEI Marketing and Communication function, with a strong focus on ReStore operations.

  • Develop and execute a marketing plan for the ReStore within the larger framework of Habitat for Humanity PEI’s goals, including developing promotional opportunities and materials, and developing and implement communications plans for the Habitat PEI ReStore while adhering to Habitat for Humanity brand standards.

  • Create workable plans to transition from current state to desired goals; determine the steps required to reach objectives and make the best use of available resources.

  • Provide advice to Senior Management and advise all programs and departments on internal and external issues as appropriate.

  • Ensure that media inquiries are dealt with in a timely and accurate manner and subsequently briefing Habitat PEI’s corporate spokespersons.

  • Provide advice to the ReStore Manager and CEO when developing the annual operational plan for the organization

  • Proactively seek out opportunities to advocate on behalf of Habitat PEI with the goal to increase awareness, financial support and drive traffic to our ReStores.




  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business; community college diploma in business will also be considered.



  • Experience in retail management, sales, or the non-profit sector is an asset



  • Strong communication and people skills with a great command of English language and professional manner is essential

  • Strong research skills and ability to develop and follow-through on business leads

  • Eager to establish new partnerships, comfortable with cold calls and cold approaches, and ability to close donation offers

  • Organized, detailed in his or her work, and highly self-motivated

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build networks, tactfully negotiate, flexibility, and consistency with following through

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher) and ability to quickly learn other industry specific applications

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, able to manage and deliver on multiple assignments under tight deadlines.

  • A self-starter who loves to think creatively and solve problems.

  • Ability and willingness to learn trends, practices, and policies affecting the industry and business.

  • Ability to sift through vast amounts of information, solicit opportunities and possibilities, and communicate analysis effectively to senior management.



This position is designed for a recent graduate. Applicants must be eligible for the Skills PEI Graduate Mentorship Program.
